Dr. Malynn Utzinger
Director, Integrative Practices

As a Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine physician, Malynn co-founded with Bill Linton the non-profit medical research organization Usona Institute, which focuses on the study of psychedelic medicines delivered through humanistic and integrative protocols for mental health and wellbeing.

She also leads Promega’s Emotional and Social Intelligence (ESI) team supporting scientists and employees of Promega, a life-sciences company. Her mission is to help people increasingly see and act from the particular open-mindedness and good within them for their own health and our greater wisdom and wellness.

After early career work in journalism and cultural anthropology, Malynn trained in family medicine, rehabilitation medicine and preventive oncology at the University of Wisconsin and ran a small, private clinic in Madison, WI before moving to San Diego to become the Director of Women’s Health for the Chopra Center. As an integrative health consultant and research associate she worked for the global non-profit Planetree, focusing on patient-centered care and integrative medicine programs in hospitals, the Preventive Medicine Research Institute in San Francisco, focusing on diet, mindfulness, group support and exercise for people with heart disease and prostate cancer, and the Eileen Fisher company, delivering integrative medicine and emotional and social intelligence tools for employees.

In free time, you’ll find Malynn cross country skiing, hiking, biking with her husband and son, dancing or engaging in a novel/ancient movement therapy, or soaking up a good read.
